Overview technologies

Pre-treatment by alkaline degreasing

In the field of coating technology, a completely cleaned base substrate is one of the most important prerequisites for the successful application of coating agents.

Oils, dust or release agents prevent adhesion of the coating agent and thus reduce the corrosion protection effect and other functions of the application.

Pre-treatment by cleaning blasting

For the removal of solid residues and impurities, among other things, a fully automatic troughed belt blasting unit for bulk material is available.

We can pre-treat and clean both the smallest parts from a diameter of 4 mm and larger components up to a unit weight of 5 kg.

Pre-treatment by phosphating

Zinc phosphating is a chemical process to create a poorly soluble conversion layer on a metal substrate.

Wet coating

Wet coating is an umbrella term for all application processes that use liquid coating agents and is very popular and widely used due to its wide range of applications.

It can be applied to almost all basic substrates and is suitable for small parts in the bulk sector as well as for components in the rack and hand application sector.

Zinc flake coating

The zinc flake coating is a basecoat made of zinc and aluminium flakes. It is applied to the base substrate non-electrolytically and provides active cathodic corrosion protection.

No hydrogen is generated in our application, which virtually eliminates the risk of hydrogen embrittlement.
By combining them with a suitable topcoat and/or post-dip lubrication, we are able to completely fulfil their functional requirements.

Topcoats

Topcoats are organic sealants that fulfil a variety of different functions. On the one hand, they functionally enhance the coated components, as they increase resistance to corrosion, chemicals, weathering and mechanical influences.

However, topcoats can also add new functions such as adhesion promotion, electrical insulation or even defined friction and sliding coefficient windows. In addition to the functional aspect, appearance also plays a major role, which is why we offer a large number of colours and gloss levels.

Finishing

Silicate top coats and anti-friction coatings or dry lubricants contribute to functional enhancement, an extended service life of components and the reduction of friction and thus wear.

They also help to successfully overcome the challenges of modern industrial applications and to continuously improve the environmental compatibility of machines and systems.

Applications overview

Functional surfaces for bonding applications

With the development, introduction and expansion of Klever's own product portfolio with Klevercol®, KleverPUR® and the KleverPLAST® Group, we have achieved new levels of innovation in coating for subsequent bonding applications.

The steadily increasing proportion of driver-assistive sensors in the automotive industry and the parallel increase in demand for autonomous, digitally controlled regulation technology is leading to increased demands on the mounting systems of sensor and camera technology.

For this reason, Klevercol®, KleverPUR®, KleverPLAST® and KleverPLAST®-tech UV (trace) were developed. Sustainable products for the functional coating of surfaces for highly efficient adhesives on almost all base substrates

Bulk material application

In the bulk material sector, we protect your components reliably and long-lasting against corrosion and, if required, add further functions such as defined friction and sliding windows or adhesion promotion. We protect both small, filigree parts with a diameter of 1.8 mm and large components with a diameter of up to 200 mm with, among other things, our own application process Kleverest®

Kleverest® process

With the self-developed and continuously optimised Kleverest® process technology, we enable the process-reliable application of exact coating thicknesses in the micrometre range.

This self-developed immersion centrifugal process is particularly impressive for its reliability with geometrically complicated bodies, hollow and scooped parts, screws with the smallest internal threads and nuts. It is precisely here that conventional application methods reach their limits, even though reliable corrosion protection without functional restrictions is indispensable.

Diving slingshot application

The dip-spin process is a common method for coating bulk material. Zinc flake coatings, top coats as well as post-dip lubrications can be applied.

Electrophoretic coating (E-Coating)

Cathodic dip coating (CDC) is an electrochemical process used to apply topcoats as a sealant to zinc flake coatings, other electroplated zinc and zinc alloy coatings, stainless steels, zinc and aluminium die castings.

Rack applications

In the field of rack application, we protect your components reliably and long-lasting against corrosion and add functions such as defined friction and sliding windows or adhesion promotion. Our product portfolio ranges from fasteners and fixing elements to components for bonding applications.

Full coating

The industry-standard, full-surface rack application is an easy-to-implement application process that is used for a large number of components.

We use several fully automated systems and, in addition to our proprietary Klevercol®, KleverPUR® and KleverPLAST® coating agent groups, we also use a wide range of other coating agents to fulfil all your wishes and complex requirements.

Partial coating for fasteners

Our partial coatings for fasteners, for example head coatings for screws, not only offer a first-class, decorative appearance, but also functional enhancements for your components.

Our extensive range of coating options enables you to obtain the exact surface and colour to suit your requirements and area of application.

Trace Coating

The fully automated, partial coating process Trace Coating is our latest innovation that takes both resource and energy efficiency to a new level.

We are also researching the integration of artificial intelligence here in collaboration with the TH Cologne as part of a state-funded ZIM project.
